We began as a grassroots artist co-op founded on cooperative principles, and focused on education in the community. We successfully use cultural strengths, such as collective vision, respect for elders, stewardship, and cooperation among group members to create a community-wide culture identified with self-empowerment.

The demand for Dancing Spirit's work with youth continues to explode in all directions.

Dancing Spirit Community Art Center is a 501(c)3 that is dedicated to providing our community with programs that enhance creativity and fellowship, that promotes education, appreciation and enjoyment of the arts and that celebrates the cultural heritage of our unique population.

We offer ongoing art classes for kids, adults, and families and  we serve our  community with programs that bring us all together, lift everyone up, and heal our pasts.

About Us

Our Programs

Dancing Spirit is keeping our community connected during social distancing by reaching out to the artist in each of you! We are teaming up with other area organizations to offer simple art projects you can do at home, fun contests and give-aways and a public art corner where you can share your art. Read more HERE...

Upcoming Events

From our  after school and summer kids programs to our adult classes and workshops, Dancing Spirit Community Art Center has something for everyone and every ability.

We are currently offering limited groups of in-person activities including an after school art class for students ages 5-12, and adult pottery classes and workshops on topics such as mosaics, fused glass and more.  We are also expanding our therapeutic arts curriculum as well as collaborating with the Tribal Justice program to design and pilot an arts-based "Wellness Court" program as an alternative to incarceration.

Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center recognizes that we are functioning in unprecedented times. We want to make sure that we are doing our part to keep everyone safe and healthy, while still allowing our students and our community members to express themselves creatively. To allow us to continue to offer our programs safely, we are implementing the following procedures:

  • All teachers and participants are requested to take their temperature before any in person classes and that if they have a fever, cough or any other signs of an illness, they will not be allowed to attend in person classes.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged for in person classes.
  • Hand-washing will be encouraged throughout the class and hand sanitizer will be available to students to use.
  • DSCAC will comply with mandates from both the State of Colorado as well as the Ignacio School District, and all classes and guidelines will be subject to change throughout the year.
